Itinerary

Day 1 - June 6 : Arrive in Olbia
Arrive at Olbia airport and transfer to the beautiful area of Gallura. This area is about one hour north from the
airport and facing the beautiful Maddalena Islands. Once arrived we will check in at the hotel Valle dell'Erica or
Hotel La Coluccia and you can enjoy the beautiful nature and tranquility and relax in their Mediterranean parks or
by the beach, an ideal place to start our journey after your long trip. In the evening, we will have our welcome
dinner on one of the panoramic terraces of the Hotel.

Day 2 - June 7: Island of La Maddalena

Today we will explore the beautiful coast of Sardinia.
This morning we will board a motorboat and go to the Island of La Maddalena Archipelago. We will spend the
morning hanging out, drinking wine, and jumping into the blue water and enjoy lunch on board!
After lunch, we will transfer back to our hotel and have some time to relax.
Later in the afternoon we can enjoy one of the best sunsets. We will go then directly for dinner and a great
Gallurese experience at the Agriturismo Li Nardoni, where we can eat the typical Gallurese Soup. After dinner we
will come back to the Hotel.


Day 3 - June 8: Wine tasting and Cala Gonone
We check out and our minibus will take us south. After about 30 minutes we will stop in a beautiful winery Surrau.
This is located in Arzachena, not far from Porto Cervo, and it’s considered one of the best wineries in the
Mediterranean Sea. Their Vermentino di Gallura has won many prizes. We will have a light lunch paired with their
wines. After lunch we will proceed south and in about 1 hour and 30 minutes we will arrive at Hotel Su Gologone.
This is one of the most interesting hotels we have in Italy, a mix of local art, charm, nature, great food and
traditions. It is close to the mountains, the beautiful beaches of Cala Gonone and inside the Dorgali wine area. All
the rooms are furnished by local artisans and have an old Spanish style due to the most recent main domination on
this area. In the evening we will have a traditional dinner around the fireplace, eating a lot of authentic local
products, including their homemade pasta and sweets.

Day 4 - June 9: Boat Tour

This morning we will enjoy the fantastic Sardinian breakfast, all home made, and then go to the beaches of CalaGonone. With a nice boat we will have a beautiful ride along the coast and make few stops in what Travel CondeNast rated the best beach in the world for 5 times, Cala Goloritze.
After we come back from the boat ride we will have lunch at the restaurant right on the harbor called Al Gabbiano inCala Gonone.
Later in the afternoon we will come back to the Hotel. You can enjoy the beautiful hotel facilities, like the pool andthe SPA, also admire and attend a local pottery class or simply do some of the beautiful nature trails.
Dinner will be on your own tonight.


Day 5 - June 10: Canyon and Sardinian Cheese

After a fantastic typical breakfast, we will go by 4-wheel drivers to Lake Cedrino for a great excursion. We will board a flat-bottomed boat and navigate the amazing canyon of Gorroppu. We will stop and visit caves, small villages and have lunch in a rural shepherd’s house. We will be back at the hotel by 3pm.
In the evening we will have a special dinner at Su Gologone, where they will prepare the Pane Carasau from thebreak oven, dining in their garden to enjoy the local farmed products.


Day 6 - June 11: Up the MountainsToday, we will go and explore the Serra Orrios nuraghe, one of the best preserved nuragic complexes.
Along theroad, we will stop at the Carsic Water Spring of Su Gologone and at the Ispinigoli Caves, some of the biggest caves inthe entire world. We will then proceed to Orgosolo, a famous old village visited because of the open-air art exhibit ofMurales. Lunch will be on your own in Orgosolo. After lunch, we will come back to the hotel.
Later in the afternoon we will go and visit an old friend of Marco, Ottavio Floris. We will visit his country home wherehe produces a fantastic Cannonau Wine Riserva and also we will do a cooking class with his 90 years old mother,Signora Pina. We will prepare the malloreddus, Sardinian Gnocchi, and the suckling pig.
We will also have a lot of greens coming from his garden and the honey from his bees, good to be spread on top of the goat cheese his brother produces. This will be an experience you will always remember!

 

Day 7 - June 12: South toward Cagliari

We check out of the Hotel and drive south. On the way we will make a stop in Oristano and visit a family-ownedwinery, Quartomoro. They are famous for their small quality production of Vermentino, Cannonau and unique localgrapes like Monica. After the visit we will have lunch at their friend's restaurant.
After this, we will proceed south and after another hour we will arrive in the Capital of Sardinia and check-in right inthe center of the city.
Cagliari is an old Roman foundation town that was then built in layers from the following dominations. Tonight, wewill enjoy a great pizza for dinner.

Day 8 - June 13: Cagliari and Spice Market
This morning we will meet around 10:30 and go to Cagliari, just 15 minutes away. Cagliari is the capital of Sardiniaand we will have a nice walking tour with our local guide.
We will visit the Roman amphitheater and go to the food and spice market of San Benedetto. We will have a realCagliari Street food experience inside the Cherchi box gourmet at 12.30am, tasting very upscale local specialties. Youwill also visit a pastificcio, where you will see fresh pasta being made!
In the afternoon, you can have time to stroll around the beautiful historic center to shop and explore the littleartisanal stores. Dinner will be on your own tonight.

Day 9 - June 14: Argiolas winery and Farewell

Today we will visit another beautiful winery.
About 30 min away from Cagliari, we will arrive at Argiolas and visit this family-owned winery. They are famous fortheir small quality production of Vermentino, Cannonau and unique local grapes like Monica. We will enjoy a winetasting paired with some local food.
Afterwards, you will be back in Cagliari and have time to pack.
Our farewell dinner will be at an amazing restaurant, walking distance from the hotel.


Day 10 - June 15: Departure
Buon Viaggio! Return to the US or stay longer in Italy. Departure from Cagliari airport.
